You can be sure of a very warm welcome at the Red Lion Inn by Angela and Adrian, proprietors since November 2004, and their staff.

Located in the centre of the bustling Roman fortress village of Caerleon, the Red Lion Inn is a traditional old building (circa mid 1600) and was originally an old coaching inn.

In the 20’s and 30’s, beer was drawn straight from the barrels which were lined up behind the bar - best drawn from the wood they used to say.

Bar and Restaurant

Our superb bars and restaurant provide a varied selection of dishes and a comprehensive wine list.  

The clientele at the Red Lion include locals, business people and students. 

We have a large, enclosed beer garden where, upon entering, you will more than likely be greeted by one of our pet rabbits, who roam the garden freely.  Ideal to keep the little ones amused - and many of the grown-ups too!
